This session will focus on creating a collage here are some ideas to get your creativity started - or alternatively bring your own ideas!
Here are three collage possibilities and ideas focusing on the colour blue:
"Abstract Ocean Dreamscape" – Layer torn paper, translucent tissue, and textured materials to create an atmospheric seascape. Incorporate elements like waves, marine life, and organic shapes to evoke movement and depth. Look for images to inspire you
"Urban Nocturne" – Construct a moody nighttime cityscape using deep blue tones, geometric cutouts, and reflective materials like metallic paper or acetate. Experiment with layering and light effects to capture the vibrancy of neon-lit streets. Look for images to inspire you
"Monochrome Still Life" – Create a classic still life composition using only blue tones. Arrange and collage images or painted paper of objects such as ceramics, glassware, fabric, and flowers, focusing on light, shadow, and texture to bring depth and realism to the piece. Look for images to inspire you
'Existing Painting' - take a painting that either didn't work too well or is your favourite and re-paint it in the sketchbook using a different medium to the original one or using just one single colour such as blue

What is collage? Collage is an art technique that involves assembling and layering different materials—such as paper, fabric, photographs, and found objects—onto a surface to create a unified composition. It allows for creative exploration through texture, color, and juxtaposition, often blending abstract and realistic elements. Collage can be used for storytelling, abstraction, or visual experimentation, making it a versatile and expressive medium in both traditional and contemporary art.
